Papafragas: look from above unless the path is clearly open

Papafragas is a limestone canyon dropping to a narrow turquoise channel near Pollonia. It photographs like a secret beach. The descent to the scrap of sand at the bottom is a steep flight of steps cut in rock, and travel sources have reported that path closed. Until you have checked on the day, treat Papafragas as a clifftop walk, not as a swimming plan. A vehicle stops at parking above, on the Pollonia road.

The honest visit is from above

The clifftop path is the part almost everyone can do. The photographs of people in the channel are not an instruction. Greeka and other visitor pages have noted a closed path to the small beach. If a barrier or sign says no, that is the end of the swimming idea. There is no facility, no shade structure worth counting, and no reason to improvise a climb on crumbling limestone.

On the way to Pollonia

Papafragas is a natural pause on the road to Pollonia. Twenty minutes on the cliff, then the village for a swim you do not have to earn with a closed staircase. Sarakiniko is a different stop, west. A highlights-style day can include the viewpoint without pretending it is a beach hour.
