Klima: the painted boat houses at the water

Syrmata are boathouses: the lower level opened to the water so a fishing boat could be hauled inside, the family living above. In Klima they form a continuous painted front that photographers treat as the island’s signature village. They are private buildings. Look, do not treat doorways as changing rooms, and keep to the public strip along the water.

Late afternoon is the usual window: the west-facing waterfront takes the last light. The hamlet is small; twenty minutes of walking is a full circuit unless you have booked a table. Dining options are limited compared with Plaka or Adamas — check what is actually open on the day rather than assuming a waterfront of restaurants.

A transfer from Adamas port to Klima is a published €30 fare for up to four. From the airport it is €40. Combining Klima with Plaka and the theatre is the usual private-tour finish; see the highlights tour. If you only want the photograph, a drop-off and a timed collection is enough.

The descent from Trypiti is steep and narrow. Drivers who know the island will tell you where they can stop without blocking the front. Do not expect a coach-style lay-by. If you self-drive, come early or accept a walk from wherever you find space. There is no separate “Klima beach club” access: the water is the village.
